The Community Foundation of Frederick County


After losing their three-year-old daughter Christine Marie, Daniel and Susan Tipsord, the couple desired to help others. The Tipsords turned to The Community Foundation of Frederick County to establish a fund in Christine’s memory.

As a public charity, The Community Foundation works with individuals, families, organizations, and businesses to establish funds to accomplish charitable purposes. The Community Foundation takes full fiduciary responsibility for all funds its manages, ensuring that they each serve legitimate charitable purposes and comply with all relevant IRS regulations. Since 1986, the Community Foundation has established over 400 charitable funds that support a range of worthwhile community causes—from grants to area nonprofits to scholarships to deserving students. Every Community Foundation fund positively impacts the Frederick County community and transforms lives for the better. The Community Foundation translates a donor’s charitable intention into reality and, depending on how the fund is set-up, can create a stream of steady support for any number of charitable endeavors for generations to come. The Community Foundation, in short, promotes local philanthropy.

The Project Christine Fund

The Tipsords decided to name the fund they established with the Community Foundation The Project Christine Fund. Its purpose is to equip parents, who have lost children to illnesses or accidents, with the tools they need to help their surviving children cope with their loss. These tools include grief kits and workbooks. Contributions to The Project Christine Fund are accepted at any time by the Community Foundation and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.


Impacting Other Families

Through the ordeal faced by one family, mourning the loss of a beautiful three-year-old child, countless other families are assisted through The Project Christine Fund held by the Community Foundation. One life and one family now touch many lives and families.
